About Bunya Building Services
The company was established in 1996 by Frank and Vicki Barrett. Frank kicked off their own business after starting out as a building supervisor with Kawana Estates in 1978.
The company specializes in individual and one off designs in commercial, housing and renovations preferring to work with Architects and competent designers to produce a finished product of good workmanship and quality aesthetics.
Bunya Building Services has won numerous awards over the years as a member of HIA.
Why Bunya Building Services?
Originally the company traded under the name F.J. & V.M. Barrett Builders however with another Barrett Building company on the Sunshine Coast the confusion for the public prompted Frank and Vicki to change the name of the business.
After a lot of research into the history of the Sunshine Coast the name ‘Bunya Building Services’ was decided upon. The Bunya nut was an important food source for the original Gabi Gabi inhabitants of the area. Frank and Vicki have always lived close to sites where grinding stones (used to grind open the bunya nut shell for its food) could be found as well as the track to the bunya trees (running from the Sunshine Coast through the hinterland as far as the Bunya Mountains ).
